Welcome to a mini-TE.
I promised a thing today and I must confess I’m definitely not going to finish things in time. But, fear not. I have some goodies for you none the less.
Just a little treat to tide you over and maybe build a little more excitement for things to come.
I’ve been in the government document mines today and stumbled onto some more fun stuff along the way.
Oh, and Moxy's Come and See just released an episode about The UFO Conspiracy. I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet.
Sightings and Things
One More Thing
Here’s a post I wrote this morning. Facebook only showed it to 143 people so I know most of you haven’t seen it. :-D
I'm rereading the 1953 Robertson Panel Report and I again come back to an impression I've had many time when reading military UFO reports.
The vibe is these guys are fundamentally clueless.
It all feels like this is a system trying to interpret what it considers bad data and thinking, "What the fuck do we do with this shit?"
A system that keeps trying to solve a janky edge case and ends up mainly looking suspicious as fuck.
Now, the tricky thing is groups like this panel being clueless aren't proof that "The Government" knows nothing. Just that this panel doesn't know anything.
One of the problems with coverup theories is they often assume a unification of action and intention in what are objectively chaotic and highly idiosyncratic government organizations.
When a bunch of these programs show every sign of someone coming to a conclusion that someone else didn't like or didn't think was thorough enough and ordering a new review to come up with new conclusions.
The government arguing with itself.
Anyway, I continue to think people who assume the government is lying for interesting reasons vastly underestimate the certainty of the government lying for boring reasons.
I think the most likely things to come out of our current waves of disclosure are:
1. White collar crime in government contracting, which is certainly there.
2. There's been a DEEEEEEP history of the US lying to the public about UFOs for a wide variety of reasons.
IMO the received wisdom about the government trying to discredit all UFO reports is a gross simplification of the behavior of the state on a good day and borders more on just untrue. The state clearly says different things to different audiences at different times.
It's worth noting that Project Blue Book was merely classified where the Robertson Panel report was Secret.
Neither, I observe, was Top Secret.
Does that imply information hidden on the subject? It's hard to know for sure. Compartmentalized information can get wonky. Everyone involved could have had and discussed Top Secret information but it would simply have been removed from a SECRET report.
Anyway, that’s all fun. No idea when the full thing will be done. I don’t want to half ass this one.
Monday at the earliest.
Alright, see y’all later.
